Geographic isolation, long travel distances, and smaller school sizes frequently limit access to specialized learning and career pathways across Central Appalachia. The Regional Opportunity Hub overcomes these physical barriers by serving as a unified digital ecosystem. Designed to connect students, families, educators, and community agencies, the Hub consolidates regional learning opportunities, skill-building resources, and career pathways into an accessible, single-point platform.
Platform Architecture & Network Access
Supported by Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) grant funding, the Hub integrates two core digital capabilities: an open-access Opportunity Network and a secure Learning Exchange. K-12 students, families, and community members can freely navigate the Network to discover regional programs, while educators, health personnel, and adult learners can register in the Learning Exchange to complete accredited courses, earn CEUs, and gain industry-recognized credentials. Built with robust privacy and regulatory safeguards, the Hub bridges open community connection with structured workforce development.
